LPD channels and their 69 frequencies

The LPD (Low Power Device) channels are dedicated for civilian communication within the UHF frequencies, as much as PMR446, another free band. LPD channels are located in the frequency range 433.075–434.775 MHz and include 69 channels with a step of 25 kHz. You can see them in the table below 👇

Many countries allow the channels to be used without a license, but you should meet some requirements. Usually, using walkie-talkies is only allowed with a built-in low-power antenna (no more than 0 dBi). The maximum power of the radio mustn’t exceed 10 mW. In many countries, the CTCSS or DCS subtones are permitted in the LPD range. As soon as LPD is a very common band, subtones are useful.

The high properties of the radio waves on LPD compensate for the limitations of the walkie-talkie in power. They have good passability, so this range is effective in the city and in the forest. In open fields, a transmission range of about 10 km can be expected.

Communication range in the field is about 10 km (6.21 miles), and on the road – 500 m to 1 km (0.31–0.62 miles).

In nature, the range is common amongst tourists, and in a city, it can be used by business: taxi drivers, waiters, hotel workers, security guards, builders. On city roads, you can expect communication ranges from 500 m to 1 km. Walkie-talkies of the LPD range are always compact and lightweight devices with a small antenna. They are easy to use and most often run on li-ion batteries or AA batteries.
