The principle of operation of the device is based on the amplification of weak natural night light (moon, starry sky) by an electron-optical converter. Baigish-6U is a II generation night-vision device and is equipped with two eyepieces that converge into one optical axis. The device has one lens and one electron-optical converter. Passing through them, the beam of light bifurcates and enters both monoculars. So we get a stereoscopic image as if we were looking at binoculars. The image is more realistic, and the eyes are less tired.

The eyes are provided with a rubber frame. It serves as a protection against illumination and concurrently masks the glow of the screen. Baigish-6U has an optical magnification of 2.4 times. The angle of view is 11°, which is very good for devices of this price category. It costs about $1,200 on Amazon.

As we said, the Baigish-6U uses a second-generation converter to amplify light. So, what does it mean and how does night vision binoculars work?

GEN II and II+ electron-optical converters are more difficult to manufacture, so devices equipped with them are more expensive. However, their image quality is significantly higher, and they also offer an extended field of view. According to hunters, with a Generation II EOD, a human figure can be recognized at a distance of 600 meters, and at 300 meters the image becomes detailed.

Second-generation night vision devices are less sensitive to lateral illumination: a bright light source remains just a point and does not interfere with observation. At the same time, these devices perform exceptionally well in very low light conditions, often requiring little or no infrared illumination. When paired with high-quality optics, they allow for clear vision even in minimal lighting.

The superior image quality and light-gathering capability more than justify the higher cost compared to first-generation night vision devices. This is why many hunters prefer them. For example, with the Baigish-6U, hunting is possible even in extreme environments such as Africa or Alaska, thanks to its operating temperature range of -30 to +40 °C.

Of course, these devices are relatively heavy—almost 1.8 kg—making handheld use for long periods difficult. It is recommended to use them with a head-mounted mask, such as those offered by Pulsar for their Challenger night vision devices.

Such devices are also useful for observing and studying areas under natural night conditions, for security, bird watching, and fishing. They can be valuable for yachtsmen navigating sailboats or motorboats at night, as well as for search and rescue operations during dusk or nighttime hours.

It is recommended for border guards, police officers, hunters, security officers.
